Fashion Designer Misha Nonoo

April 17th, 2017 | by Alison Burwell|,

Misha Nonoo is best known as the fashion industry’s tech pioneer. In 2015, she was the first to debut her collection exclusively via Instagram. The “Insta-show,” as it’s now known, showcased her high-profile friends modeling her designs and made her a Fashion Week sensation. (The stunt later earned her the Fashion Futures award for the best Beyond the Runway experience).

Misha’s designs combine versatile, sophisticated silhouettes with beautiful tailoring. She recently introduced “The Easy Eight,” a collection of eight wearable basics that can be styled 22 different ways.

Born in Bahrain to an Iraqi father and British mother, Misha, who now lives in New York, was raised in London and educated in Paris. She credits her multi-cultural upbringing to her success. In 2013, she was a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award and was also named one of Forbes magazine’s “30 Under 30.”

Here, the designer tells us what’s in her jewelry box:

Signature piece of jewelry?

A beautiful pair of victorian diamond earrings.

Jewelry style icon(s)?

The Queen, because who doesn’t want a crown.

First piece of jewelry you bought yourself?

Matching friendship bracelets with my best friend.

Your most treasured piece of jewelry, and why?

A beautiful Art Deco bracelet my father gave to me.

For you, what makes a fashion collection or a particular design impactful?

Designing with intention. The women I design for lead very full lives and have the desire to look and feel their best in any situation.

And for jewelry, what makes a piece of jewelry impactful?

Something that is classic, but still fun and not too serious. The Montauk bracelet by Judi Powers is the perfect example.
